What soft-sided (mild) chambers are

Soft-sided chambers, marketed as mHBOT (mild hyperbaric oxygen therapy), are flexible pressure vessels that inflate for use. The seven brands in our directory with soft-sided models state lineup pressures between 1.1 and 3.0 ATA; AHA Hyperbarics, the only brand building soft-sided systems exclusively - explicitly including personal use - states 1.8-2.0 ATA. Portability varies by brand and is not a given: OxyHealth states its systems are portable with no fixed installation, Dremenia offers optional on-site assembly and instruction, and X4Oxygen ships its stationary systems by external carrier.

Manufacturers aim mild HBOT at wellness users, athletes supporting recovery, and people seeking a gentle, non-invasive addition to their routine. Documented deployments are broader than that marketing, though: BioBarica's mild chambers (1.1-1.45 ATA) have run at Hospital de Quemados, a public hospital in Buenos Aires, since 2018. Either way, mild HBOT is not a substitute for clinical hyperbaric medicine.

Of the 16 manufacturer profiles on HBOT-Wiki, seven state soft-sided chambers: AHA Hyperbarics (Austria), OxyHealth (USA), BioBarica (Argentina), Dremenia Sauerstofftechnik (Germany), O2Air (Austria), X4Oxygen (Germany) and Oxyboost (Netherlands). Stated pressures span 1.1 to 3.0 ATA - figures covering each brand's full range, including hard-shell monoplace units; BioBarica states 1.1-1.45 ATA, Dremenia 1.3-2.0 ATA.

Capacities on the soft-sided end are small: one person at AHA and BioBarica, one to two at OxyHealth and O2Air; Dremenia and X4Oxygen state 1-6 persons across their full lineups, and Oxyboost publishes no figure. Warranty terms vary widely: OxyHealth states 5 years on all new chambers, O2Air and X4Oxygen 3 years extendable to 5, BioBarica 2 years in a public contract (its datasheet states 3), Dremenia statutory warranty with optional packages up to 10 years, AHA a warranty only for its oxygen concentrator (2 years / 2,000 hours), and Oxyboost a full warranty without published duration. Public pricing is thin but documented: BioBarica's Revitalair 430 sold for EUR 38,000 excl. VAT in a 2019 Spanish public contract, the Revitalair 430F lists at USD 45,000-59,850 (US dealer list), and a US reseller offers OxyHealth chambers from USD 9,900.

Verification

Certification status: verified versus manufacturer-stated

This is where the market splits. We check certification claims against official registers; only three of seven brands currently pass: AHA Hyperbarics is EUDAMED-registered with a verified FDA device listing under 510(k) K101262, OxyHealth holds two verified FDA 510(k) device listings plus an FDA establishment registration, and BioBarica has two verified FDA 510(k) clearances.

For Dremenia, O2Air, X4Oxygen and Oxyboost, all certification and specification data is manufacturer-stated only - no official register entries confirm it. That does not make the products unsafe, but buyers should request documentation before contracting; such data points are marked accordingly on our profiles.

Positioning

How mHBOT differs from clinical HBOT

Pressure alone does not draw the line. Clinical monoplace and multiplace manufacturers in our directory state pressures from 2.0 ATA (Fink Engineering, HPO Tech) up to 6 ATA - HAUX-LIFE-SUPPORT up to 21 ATA, ONE Hyperbarics publishes no figure - so the bands overlap with the upper end of soft-sided lineups. What separates clinical HBOT is construction, supervision and purpose: hard-shell vessels built to hospital codes and run by trained staff under medical supervision. Soft-sided chambers are operated by users themselves after instruction.

We state this plainly because the market blurs it: a soft-sided chamber is a different product category from a clinical hyperbaric system, not a cheaper version of the same thing. For any medical condition, treatment belongs in professional hands - speak to a qualified practitioner first.
