What defines a monoplace chamber

A monoplace chamber is a rigid pressure vessel built for exactly one occupant per session, controlled by the operator from outside the vessel. It sits between the two other categories on this site: multi-person multiplace systems on one side and fabric soft-sided mild chambers on the other.

Manufacturer data in our profiles puts the clinical end of the segment at 3.0 ATA: Sechrist Industries - the only company in our database that builds monoplace chambers exclusively - specifies 3.0 ATA for its single-person systems, and Environmental Tectonics Corporation states the same figure for its 1-2 person line. At the other end, several European and South American makers state operating pressures between 1.1 and 2.5 ATA.

The manufacturer landscape: 15 of 16 build monoplace

Within our database, monoplace is the most widely listed chamber type: of the 16 manufacturers we profile, only AHA Hyperbarics (soft-sided systems only) does not build one. Six of the 15 monoplace builders are US companies - Perry Baromedical, Sechrist Industries, Tekna Manufacturing, Environmental Tectonics Corporation, Pan-America Hyperbarics and OxyHealth. Germany contributes three (Dremenia Sauerstofftechnik, HAUX-LIFE-SUPPORT, X4Oxygen), with the remainder based in Austria (O2Air), the UK (ONE Hyperbarics), Turkey (HPO Tech), Australia (Fink Engineering), Argentina (BioBarica) and the Netherlands (Oxyboost).

Certification is the hard gate. For clinical operation in the US, FDA 510(k) clearance is the reference point: 8 of the 15 monoplace manufacturers have FDA register entries we verified directly - Perry Baromedical (6x), Sechrist (5x), Pan-America (4x), Environmental Tectonics (3x), Tekna (2x, applicant Hypertec Inc.), Fink Engineering (2x), BioBarica (2x) and OxyHealth (2x device listings). For the EU, HAUX-LIFE-SUPPORT and HPO Tech carry register-verified EUDAMED entries. Five manufacturers - Dremenia, O2Air, ONE Hyperbarics, X4Oxygen and Oxyboost - currently rest on manufacturer claims we could not yet verify against an official register.

Beyond certification, compare warranty and price. Standard warranty terms in the data range from 12 months (Perry Baromedical) to 5 years on all new chambers (OxyHealth); Dremenia additionally states optional warranty packages up to 10 years, and several manufacturers publish no written terms at all. Documented pricing exists for three of the 15: ONE Hyperbarics lists its Solo Deluxe from GBP 105,000 (manufacturer starting price), BioBarica is documented at EUR 38,000 excl. VAT in a 2019 Spanish public contract plus a 2026 US dealer list of USD 45,000-59,850 (Revitalair 430F), and OxyHealth chambers appear on a US reseller list at USD 9,900 to 136,100 across its model range. Clinic, practice or studio - matching chamber to setting

Hospital and wound-care operators buy from the 3.0 ATA cluster with verified clearances and formal installation frameworks: Sechrist states installation per ASME PVHO-1 and NFPA 99, Environmental Tectonics lists US hospital installations such as St. Vincent Charity Cleveland among its references, and Perry Baromedical states annual maintenance plans plus emergency on-site service within 24-48 hours.

Non-clinical references appear across the pressure spectrum, not only at the low end: HPO Tech (2.0-6.0 ATA) names the Washington Commanders and the Fairmont Hotel Mumbai, ONE Hyperbarics (no published operating pressure) names Savoy Signature and Six Senses, and Dremenia (1.3-2.0 ATA) lists ANTI Berlin and The Biohacking Club München. For studio and hotel settings, some makers position their offer around low operational overhead: O2Air states installation typically within one day, and Oxyboost offers purchase, rental or leasing. The buying decision hinges on certification level, service model and setting - not on pressure alone.
